HCS/Haryana Public Service Exam Pattern
The HCS/ Haryana Public Service Commission exam will be Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) comprising of the three stages.
Stage 1-Preliminary Examination (Objective Type/ Multiple Choice) for screening purpose only. The Preliminary Exam Shall Comprise of two papers of Objective type (multiple choice questions) and carry a maximum of 200 marks as under.

Stage 2-Main Examination (Conventional Essay Type) – As per previous notification
Candidates qualified in the Stage 1 (normally fifteen times of the vacancies advertised) are allowed to take the Main Examination.
Candidates will not be allowed to offer the following combinations of subjects:
- Political Science and International Relations and Public Administration
- Agriculture and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science
- Hindi Literature, English Literature, Sanskrit Literature and Punjabi Literature
- Of the Engineering Subjects viz. Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering-not more than one subject.
Candidates fifteen times the number of vacancies advertised will be admitted to the Main Examination.HCS Coaching in Chandigarh provide question paper for pre examination will be set in English Only. Candidate thrice the number of vacancies advertised will be selected for Personality Test. Candidate who qualify for the Main Exam will have to apply again on the separate application form which will be supplied by the Haryana Public Service Commission free of cost.
Personality Test /Interview: Candidates who are short listed in the Written Examination are required to appear for an Interview.
